THE PEACE AND SECURITY CLUSTER MEDIA BRIEFING
Chairpersons of Parliament’s peace and security cluster oversight committees will, on Thursday, 25 June 2026, address the media and stakeholders as part of the 7th Parliament’s Committee Cluster Media Engagement programme.
The briefing will be held under the theme: “Deepening the values of peace, justice, safety and security.”
These briefings form part of the 7th Parliament’s Committee Cluster Media Engagement programme designed to deepen public accountability by bringing committee chairs directly to citizens and the media. Unlike standalone briefings, the cluster format allows for cross-cutting analysis of issues that span multiple committees. The peace and security cluster briefing will feature three committee chairpersons, as follows:
The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs, Mr Mosa Chabane, will speak on various issues before the committee, including:
- Immigration matters
- Relocation of refugee centres closer to points of entry
- IEC voter registration weekend
- Border Management Authority work to secure South Africa’s borders
The Chairperson of the Select Committee on Security and Justice, Ms Jane Mananiso, will speak on:
- SAPS renewal and accountability following the Madlanga Commission
- Rape kits, forensic services and the fight against gender-based violence
- Border management and border security
The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Correctional Services, Ms Kgomotso Ramolobeng, will speak about:
- The transition to state management of Mangaung Correctional Centre
- Foreign national inmates and overcrowding
- Community corrections and abscondment
