Economic Cluster 2 Media Briefings

ECONOMIC CLUSTER MEDIA BRIEFINGS

Five chairpersons of the National Assembly oversight committees belonging to the Economic Cluster 2 will address members of the media on Thursday, 30 January, as part of the 7th Parliament’s Weekly Committee Cluster Media Briefing programme. The media briefing will be held under the theme “Promotion of full participation of all in the economy.”

The weekly media engagement series began in November 2024 and this week it is set to feature the following chairpersons:

• Portfolio Committee on Employment and Labour: Mr Boyce Maneli
• Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure: Ms Carol Mokgadi Phiri
• Portfolio Committee on Tourism: Ms Lungi Mnganga-Gcabashe
• Portfolio Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation: Ms Tsakani Shiviti
• Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies: Ms Khusela Sangoni Diko

The Chairpersons are expected to highlight the critical work undertaken by these committees since the start of the 7th Parliament. They will, among other things, brief the media and stakeholders on the labour migration policy, management of state properties, promotion of tourism in townships and villages, funding of the Technology Innovation Agency, the SABC Bill, and the business rescue process underway in the South African Post Office.

These weekly media briefings are crucial in fostering transparency and keeping the public informed. They provide journalists and citizens with essential insights into the workings of Parliament, promoting a deeper understanding of its critical functions and enhancing accountability in governance.
