Sunday, 3 September – Coming up are oversight visits by the National Council of Provinces based Select Committees in three provinces. At Parliament this week there are 32 scheduled meetings of committees. There will also be plenary sittings in the National Assembly and in the NCOP.
The motion of the Democratic Alliance on the dissolution of the National Assembly is scheduled to take place on 5 September.
The oversight visits in the provinces scheduled for this week are, Joint oversight visit of the Select Committees on Education and Recreation and Select Committee on Social Services to KwaZulu-Natal and the joint oversight visit of the Select Committees on Finance and Appropriations to Gauteng Province. Also joint visit of the Select Committees on Economic and Business Development and Trade and International Relations to the Free State Province.
- Select Committee on Social Services is going to assess among other things the implementation of the National Health Insurance at Addington Hospital and Cato Manor Community Health Centre. (Contact Malatswa Molepo on 081 512 7920)
- Select Committee on Education and Recreation to assess the governance and administration challenges of the Durban TVET Colleges (Contact Malatswa Molepo on 081 512 7920)
- Select Committee on Finance to strengthen oversight and accountability by interacting with stakeholders that includes National treasury and the South African Reserve Bank as well to conducting site visits to assess the value for money spent.
- Select Committee on Appropriations to meet with the Gauteng metros, Ekurhuleni, Johannesburg and Tshwane as well as provincial departments affected by the Urban Settlement Development.
- Select Committee on Economic and Business Development will assess green economy related projects and Expanded Public Works Programmes (Contact Sibongile Maputi on 0810526060)
- Select Committee on Trade and International Relations will be briefed on the province’s growth and development trajectory and to visit projects related to economic growth in the Mangaung area. (Contact Sibongile Maputi on 0810526060)

- Standing Committee on Public Accounts, briefing by National Treasury: Consolidated Report on deviation and expansion for National departments and entities for 2016/17
- Portfolio Committee on Basic Education, consideration of outstanding Draft Minutes and Draft Reports; Briefing by Department of Basic Education (DBE) on Progress in respect of the Implementation of International Agreements
- Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements briefing by the Department of Human Settlements on the: First Quarter Report 2017/18 (April – June) 2017; Progress made on the Property Practitioners Bill; Progress made on the Home Loans and Mortgage Disclosure Amendment Bill; Consideration and adoption of minutes
