Parliament, Monday, 29 January 2018 – The Portfolio Committee on Water and Sanitation will over the next three days undertake an oversight visit to various districts in Mpumalanga to assess issues of service delivery in relations to water and sanitation in the province.

Some of the issues to be discussed and assessed include the water supply challenges in Bushbuckridge Local Municipality resulting in service delivery protests, interventions as well as outstanding debt to Rand Water for infrastructure development, expenditure on Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant, the challenge of access to water by farmers as well as assess the overall delivery of water infrastructure in the province.

The Committee will also visit various sites throughout its visit. On the first day the Committee will visit Hangingston Farm (In Baberton) to investigate allegations of restriction of water impacting downstream users.
