Parliament, Thursday, 27 February 2020 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Transport, Mr Mosebenzi Zwane, said the incident of power cut involving the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa and Eskom is unfortunate.

The incident of the state entity cutting electricity off for another state entity should never have happened. The incident left commuters stranded for the better part of the day.Mr Zwane said, it is unfortunate to involve ordinary people on matters they know nothing about.

“The entities should have handled this problem differently among themselves without inconveniencing the people that are already frustrated by poor service,” said Mr Zwane.

Eskom has cut off the supply of electricity to Prasa, forcing the agency to suspend services for most of the day in the Cape Metro.
