Parliament, Friday, 5 May 2017 – Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry will interview the three nominated candidates for the position of Chairperson of the Board of the National Lotteries Commission, on Friday 12 May 2017 in Parliament, which will be open to the public.

Committee Chairperson Ms Joanmariae Fubbs said: “Such an appointment can only be made after the Minister has by notice in the Gazette and, in at least two newspapers, invited interested parties to nominate suitable candidates. The Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry has made recommendations in relation thereto after a transparent and open process of considering person so nominated.”

In compliance with the Lotteries Act, 1997 (Act No.57 of 1997) as amended, the Minister has submitted the names of the nominated candidates to Parliament for consideration.

The matter was referred to the Committee for consideration. Subsequently, the Committee has scheduled to interview the nominated candidates, Mr W Huma, Mr A Mawela and Prof N Nevhutanda at 08h30 on Friday, 12 May 2017 in Parliament.
