Parliament, Monday 27 November 2017 – The President of the Republic of South Africa will deliver the State of the Nation Address to a joint sitting of the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces on Thursday, 8 February 2018 at 7pm.

The State of the Nation Address sets out government’s key policy objectives and deliverables for the year ahead, highlights achievements, flags challenges and outlined interventions to unlock development interventions for the coming financial year. The State of the Nation Address marks the official start of the Parliamentary programme.

Media wishing to cover the State of the Nation Address and ceremony from Parliament should send their full details as indicated in the media accreditation template by 12 JANUARY 2018 AT 17:00 to:

NB: IT IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA TO COMPLETE THEIR FULL DETAILS IN THE MEDIA ACCREDITATION TEMPLATE. PARLIAMENT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCEPT ANY ACCREDITATION REQUESTS AFTER THE DEADLINE OF 12 JANUARY 2018.

Information that must accompany accreditation requests:

  • Full name as it appears on identity document or passport
  • ID or passport number (passport numbers need further information as per the media accreditation template)
  • Name of media organisation and media group
  • Designation (writer, photographer, for example)
  • Email address, telephone number and mobile phone number

Media requesting to broadcast from the parliamentary precinct must also provide:

  • Make and registration number(s) of vehicle(s) needed for broadcast
  • Service provider clearance certificates for proposed temporary broadcast-related structures
  • Other equipment
  • Date and time of arrival and departure
