Parliament, Tuesday, 27 August 2019 – The Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture is saddened by the passing of the charismatic South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) sport analyst, Mr David Kekana.
The Chairperson of the committee, Ms Beauty Dlulane, said the committee sends its condolences to the family, colleagues and footballing fraternity. “The committee is shocked by the passing of this loved South African, whose incisive analysis will be unmatched for a long time. David belong to all South Africans. He was passionate and always smiling,” added Ms Dlulane.
Media reports indicated that Mr Kekana passed on Monday after a short illness, aged 47. His memorial service will be held at the SABC on Wednesday.
The committee observed a moment of silence in its Tuesday morning meeting at Parliament. Football and the SABC have lost a loyal and hard-working servant, Ms Dlulane said.
