Parliament, Thursday, 20 September: On Thursday 20 – 21 September 2018, the Speakers’ Forum, comprising Presiding Officers of Parliament and Provincial Legislatures will meet in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This Quarterly meeting will be chaired by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Mr Lechesa Tsenoli.

The Forum oversees co-ordination of Legislative Sector programmes to ensure effectiveness and cohesion across the sector. As such, items scheduled for discussion at its meetings reflect this purpose.

This week’s two-day Speakers’ Forum meeting is scheduled to continue discussions on matters, which came up at the Forum’s session in June 2018.

Items on the agenda for discussion include;

  • Processing of the High Level Panel Reports All Legislatures;
  • Collective Bargaining for the SA Legislative Sector;
  • Processing of the High Level Panel;
  • Preparations for the Establishment of the 6th Parliament and Legislatures;
  • Legacy Report and SF Legacy Summit;
  • Induction Programmes; and
  • Feedback on Centenary Celebrations of Former President Mandela and Mrs Albertina Sisulu
