High Commissioner of SA in Nigeria Mr Lulu Mnguni, NCOP Chairperson and SA delegation leader Ms Thandi Modise and Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Africa Region Ms Lindiwe Maseko (MP)

Wednesday, 26 July 2017 – Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) and leader of the South African delegation to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Africa Region Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers, Ms Thandi Modise, says that Africa's two biggest economies must work closely together. Ms Modise said South Africa and Nigeria need to collaborate more to prevent the second cycle of the colonisation of Africa, for the benefit of all people.

Ms Modise said this during a courtesy visit of the South African delegation to Senator Abubakar Bukola, the President of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on 25 July 2017. South Africa's National Council of Provinces and The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will also work together to exchange best practices and models for strengthening the role of these Houses of Parliament in advancing representative democracy and the broader development of the people.

Chairperson Modise's delegation included the High Commissioner of South Africa in Nigeria, Mr Lulu Mnguni, and the current Chairperson of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association - Africa Region, Ms Lindiwe Maseko MP.
