Parliament, Thursday, 16 January 2025 - Five Chairpersons of the National Assembly oversight committees belonging to the Social Services Cluster will address the media today, 16 January 2025, as part of the 7th Parliament's new Weekly Committee Cluster Media Engagement programme. The media briefing will be held under the theme "Ensuring open access and provision of quality social services to the people".
These weekly media briefings are crucial in fostering transparency and keeping the public informed. They provide journalists and citizens with essential insights into the workings of Parliament, promoting a deeper understanding of its critical functions and enhancing accountability in governance.
The weekly media engagement series began in November 2024 and resume this week. It is set to feature the following Chairpersons:
- Portfolio Committee on Basic Education: Ms Joy Maimela
- Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training: Mr Tebogo Letsie
- Portfolio Committee on Social Services: Ms Bridget Masango
- Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts, and Culture: Mr Joe McGluwa
- Portfolio Committee on Health: Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo
