Parliament, Monday, 20 January 2025 – Four chairpersons of the National Assembly oversight committees belonging to the Peace and Security Cluster will address members of the media tomorrow (Tuesday, 21 January), as part of the 7th Parliament’s Weekly Committee Cluster Media Briefing programme. The media briefing will be held under the theme “Deepening the values of peace, justice, safety and security.”
The briefing will highlight the critical work undertaken by these committees since the start of the 7th Parliament, focusing on strengthening oversight, enhancing public participation and advancing law-making across the sectors covered in the cluster.
These weekly media briefings are crucial in fostering transparency and keeping the public informed. They provide journalists and citizens with essential insights into the workings of Parliament, promoting a deeper understanding of its critical functions and enhancing accountability in governance.
The weekly media engagement series began in November 2024. It is set to feature the following chairpersons:
* Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development: Mr Xola Nqola
* Portfolio Committee on Correctional Services: Ms Anthea Ramolobeng
* Portfolio Committee on Police: Mr Ian Cameron
* Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs: Mr Mosa Chabane
