Parliament, Monday, 7 July 2025 – The Peace and Security Cluster Committee Chairpersons will on Monday, 7 July 2025, brief the media and the public as part of the 7th Parliament’s regular Committee Cluster Media Engagement programme.

The media briefing will be held under the theme: Deepening the values of peace, justice, safety and security.

The four committee Chairpersons will address members of the media on the work undertaken by each of the Peace and Security Cluster parliamentary committees since their last engagement with the media.

The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr Xola Nqola, will address members of the media on:

  • The National Prosecuting Authority.
  • Modernisation and infrastructure.
  • Turnaround strategies (Master’s Office and State Attorney’s Office).
  • Intensification of the fight against corruption and promotion of accountability.


The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Correctional Services, Ms Kgomotso Anthea Ramolobeng, will brief the media about:

  • The Correctional Services Amendment Act.
  • Infrastructure and maintenance.
  • Remand detainees with bail of R1 000.
  • Rehabilitation and social reintegration programmes.

Ms Jane Mananiso, the Chairperson of the Select Committee on Security and Justice, will talk about some of the key issues affecting the national department relating to:

  • Governance.
  • Military veterans.
  • Human resources.
  • Accountability and oversight on public funds.

The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police, Mr Ian Cameron, will brief the media on the:

  • Arrest of senior officers.
  • Gap between arrests and convictions.
  • Disaggregate data on crimes against women and children.
  • The Ministry’s new service delivery measures.

The 7th Parliament’s Committee Cluster media engagements play a pivotal role in providing updates and feedback to members of the media and the nation at large with regards to the far-reaching oversight work that is performed by parliamentary committees. Among their various principal functions, the Peace and Security Cluster Committees are relentlessly hard at work to ensure that peace, safety and security is maintained by all relevant national government departments in our country.
