Parliament, Monday, 8 September 2025 – Chairpersons of the National Assembly and National Council of Provinces Economics Cluster oversight committees will brief the media on Monday, 8 September, as part of the 7th Parliament’s committee cluster media engagement programme.

The following three committee Chairpersons will brief the media guided by the theme: “Opening new economic opportunities”:

Ms Khusela Sangoni Diko, Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies, will share the committee’s insights on:

* Broadcasting digital migration and broadband rollout

* Post Bank

Mr Mikateko Mahlaule, the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Mineral and Petroleum Resources, will talk about:

* Strengthening state-owned entities

* Critical minerals and illegal mining

The Select Committee Chairperson on Public Infrastructure and the Minister in the Presidency, Mr Rikus Badenhorst, will discuss:

* Oversight over findings and recommendations of PricewaterhouseCoopers regarding IDT

* Progress on improvements in the quality of government buildings for service delivery

* Interventions on increasing debt owed by organs of state to Property Management Trading Entity

* Implementation of an interim alternative to driving card licences.
