Parliament, Tuesday, 17 September 2019 – The National Provincial Week programme in Limpopo has been amended in order to accommodate the joint sitting of Parliament on Wednesday, 18 September 2019.

The activities that were scheduled for Wednesday are now moved to Thursday and, those of Thursday moved to Friday.

On Thursday, the permanent delegates together with members of the Limpopo Legislature will split into two groups to visit projects, including, among others, upgrading of a road in Mokosha village, Giyani, and upgrading of a stadium in Mohlonong village; construction of a 21.2-km water reticulation pipeline in Dzingi-Dzingi village; and a Maja Sports complex in Ga-Maja.

On Friday, the two groups will visit the Tours Bulk Water Supply Phase 2 project in Lenyenye, Moime, and Khujwana villages; Khujwana to Lenyene access road from gravel to tar in Lenyenye, Moime and Khujwana Villages; Makurung Community Hall in Makurung and Lenting Villages, Ga- Mphahlele; and tarring of internal street access road zone S to zone Q in Lebowakgomo

Meanwhile, the programme started smoothly on Tuesday morning at the Polokwane city hall. The delegates were briefed on the overview of the state of local government in the Limpopo; delivery of basic services to communities in Mopani and Capricorn districts as well as audit outcomes of municipalities in the two districts.

The leader of the delegation, Mr Tshitereke Matibe, said that the delegates undertook to carry the mandate from the province into the NCOP in order to build local government that is people-centred and sustainable.
