Parliament, Thursday, 21 June 2018 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Police, Mr Francois Beukman, will today meet with the South African Hunters and Game Conservation Association in Parliament.

Mr Beukman said the association requested a meeting to discuss a number of issues, including amendments to the Firearms Control Act, the destruction of unlicenced firearms, the functioning of the Central Firearm Registry and effective communication with firearm owners. It is important to interact with role-players in the industry to get their input on the regulation of firearms.

“The committee will continue to engage with relevant role-players to ensure that the South African Police Service responds adequately to service delivery concerns in the firearms regulation environment, said Mr Beukman.”
