Parliament, Sunday, 27 March 2022 - Permanent delegates to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) from Gauteng, will tomorrow, undertake an oversight visit to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital at 12 pm and Charlotte Maxeke Academic hospital at 14.30 pm, respectively.

The visits form part of the NCOP's Provincial Week program where Members of Parliament get a week-long (29 March to 1 April 2022) opportunity to visit their respective provinces to conduct oversight. Gauteng's theme for this year is "Assessing State capacity to respond to the needs of communities".

Provincial Week 2022 is a high-impact oversight programme aimed at responding to the challenges of state capacity in the provinces.

MONDAY, 28 MARCH

Event: Oversight Visit to Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital

As part of the week-long programme, the Gauteng delegation will also host a Ministerial Briefing Session on Tuesday, 29 March.

The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mr Senzo Mchunu, will brief the delegation on State Capacity to Deliver Water and Sanitation to Communities.

Furthermore, the delegation will get briefings from Members of the Executive Council (MECs) for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGHTA) at 2 pm on Interventions to Strengthen the Capacity of Municipalities to Deliver Basic Services to Communities, and for Health on The State of Hospitals in the Province at 3.30 pm.

The delegation will continue with more site visits in other parts of Gauteng on Wednesday and Thursday.

WEDNESDAY, 30 MARCH

EVENT: Site Visit to Informal Settlements in the City of Johannesburg Region G
Time: 9 am – 1 pm
Assembly Point: Corrobrick Building (Lenasia)

On Thursday, the delegation will proceed with site visits to Emfuleni to inspect the water treatment project in Sebokeng before moving to various informal settlements in Orange Farm.

THURSDAY, 31 MARCH
