Parliament, Thursday, 23 July 2020 – Parliament’s delegation led by the Deputy Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Ms Sylvia Lucas will tomorrow (24 July 2020) return to the Northern Cape to engage the provincial leadership, virtually, on the findings emanating from the district level women’s charter review sessions held in May and June 2020.

This engagement seeks to receive immediate responses on matters relating to the improvement of the status of women. The Premier, MEC’s and Mayors are amongst the Northern Cape leadership expected to attend this event to account on the issues raised by women in the province.

The 1994 Women’s Charter Review sessions are aimed at taking stock on the progress made in implementing the articles of the 1994 Women’s Charter for Effective Equality and assess its impact since the advent of freedom and democracy.
