Parliament, Tuesday 10 December – The Presiding Officers of Parliament, led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms Thandi Modise and the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Mr Amos Masondo congratulate Ms Zozibini Tunzi for being crowned Miss Universe in Atlanta - United States of America, yesterday (09 December).
“Ms Tunzi’s victory comes at a time when South Africa is observing 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. As Parliament, we are proud that she used the opportunity to advocate for women empowerment while calling on all countries to address the issue of gender-based violence globally”, said the Presiding Officers.
“Her crowing sends a clear message to the women and men of South Africa we can achieve anything if we remain focused on our objective. To her we say, you are an inspiration to millions to particularly young women and children to never stop dreaming, to believe in themselves and to stop at nothing to pursue their goals. Congratulations.”, they further added.
