Parliament, Monday, 12 November 2018 - Permanent delegates to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will be in Gauteng Province next week (19 to 22 November) to hold public hearings and conduct oversight as part of Taking Parliament to the People programme.

The weeklong flagship programme of the NCOP will be held under the theme: “Impact of migration - Deepening cooperative governance for accelerated service delivery and development.”

The multidisciplinary delegation will hold public hearings at the Alberton Civic Centre and conduct site visits related to the theme in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Johannesburg Metro, Tshwane Metro, and the West Rand District Municipality.

The public hearings are an opportunity for members of the public to draw the Executive’s attention to challenges they experience with regards to service delivery and matters related to the theme.

The visit will culminate in an address to a formal Sitting of the NCOP by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday, 22 November 2018. Various Ministers are expected to attend the programme and interact with the public during the hearings starting on Monday.
