Parliament, Saturday, 25 July 2026 – The Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane is leading a multi-party parliamentary delegation to the First Ordinary Session of the Seventh Parliament of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), at its headquarters in Midrand, Gauteng.

President Cyril Ramaphosa, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms Thoko Didiza and the President of PAP, Mr Fateh Boutbig, are among the dignitaries expected to address the official opening session on Monday, 27 July 2026.

The Chairperson will be accompanied by the Chief Whip of the African National Congress, Mr Mdumiseni Ntuli; a National Assembly (NA) Member of the Economic Freedom Fighters, Mr Vuyani Pambo; a NA Member of uMkhonto we Sizwe, Ms Khanyisile Litchfield-Tshabalala; and an NA Member of the Democratic Alliance, Mr Mergan Chetty.

The session, convened by the PAP, will be held from 27 to 31 July 2026 under the African Union's theme for 2026: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.”

The session also follows the successful election of the new PAP Bureau on 30 April 2026, which marked the start of a new parliamentary term and reaffirmed the institution's role in promoting democratic governance, continental integration and the implementation of Agenda 2063.
