Parliament, Monday, 28 October 2019 – The Portfolio Committee on Health will today wrap up its public hearings on the National Health Insurances (NHI) Bill in Ermelo, in Mpumalanga, the first province visited by the committee for public hearings on the Bill. The hearings started at the Nkomazi Local Municipality in Tonga.

Today the committee will be at the Gert Sibande District Municipality in Ermelo, where the committee will finish its first round of public hearings before moving to the Northern Cape from 1 to 4 November.

The objective of the Bill is to achieve universal access to quality health care services in South Africa.

The committee called for written submissions from the public on the Bill at the beginning of September 2019, and the closing date for the submissions is 29 November 2019.
