Parliament, Tuesday, 9 June 2020– The National Assembly at its plenary sitting today has agreed to establish an ad hoc committee on the appointment of the Auditor General whose term of office is due to end on 30 November 2020.
The ad hoc committee would comprise 11 members of the National Assembly. The 11 members would be made up of six from the African National Congress (ANC), two from the Democratic Alliance (DA), one from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and two to represent other parties.
In carrying out its work and performing its functions, the ad hoc committee would be guided by the Constitution, legislation, National Assembly resolutions and the applicable Rule of the National Assembly Rules.
The ad hoc committee would report to the National Assembly by 31 August 2020 on its work.
