Parliament, Sunday, 1 June 2025 – The Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies has learnt with deep sadness and shock the untimely passing of its member, Mr Khethamabala Petros Sithole “Jobe” MP, who passed away yesterday, Saturday 31 May 2025.

Mr Sithole joined politics in his youth and served in various public and political structures. He served as a Councillor in the Ekurhuleni Municipality and for a short time served as a Member of the Gauteng Legislature from 2009 to 2010.

His party, the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) deployed him to the National Assembly after the 2024 general elections where he served on the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies.

The Chairperson of the committee, Ms Khusela Sangoni Diko, said that Mr Sithole contributed immensely to the committee's work and dedicated his entire energy to changing ordinary people’s lives, particularly those in rural areas. “He was loved and well-respected by many within the committee and the ICT sector,” said Ms Sangoni Diko.

The committee is poorer today with Jobe’s passing, and South Africa has lost a good man who served his country par excellence. The committee extends its sincerest condolences to the Sithole Family and his political home, IFP. Rest in peace, Jobe “uBaba Wethu”.
