Parliament, Friday, 24 July 2026 – Following the ruling in the Western Cape High Court today, the Impeachment Committee for Section 89 enquiry will continue its preparatory work next week.

Chairperson of the committee, Mr Makashule Gana, on Friday noted that the part of the committee’s work that has been interdicted is that of public hearings and hearing oral testimonies pending President Cyril Ramaphosa’s review application. “I have studied the full judgement of the Western Cape High Court and consulted with the legal team. The preparatory work of the committee will continue with the meeting on Wednesday 29 July,” he said.

On Wednesday, the committee will proceed with finalising its terms of reference and its recommendation for appointing an evidence leader.
