Parliament, Friday, 31 July 2026 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr Xola Nqola, has noted from media reports the suspensions of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption’s senior investigators, chief investigator Mr Dylan Perumal, senior investigator Mr Brian Padayachee, and investigator Mr Suneel Bellochun.

Mr Nqola said the committee welcomes the suspensions, which according to media reports were announced by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development in a media briefing yesterday on the grounds of allegations of involvement in the fabrication of witness statements, case manipulation and the abuse of power.

Mr Nqola said he is certain that there is clear record of evidence of the act of corruption behind the suspension decision. “The South African system of justice is very sensitive to corruption. Even if corruption is committed underground or deep in the sea it shall be exposed and that has been like that since the dawn of democracy,” said Mr Nqola.

“The committee is confident in the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development and the National Prosecuting Authority, and in the cooperation of other key role-players in these investigations, that no stone will be left unturned until justice triumphs in the end. We are looking forward to speedy completion of the investigations,” added Mr Nqola.
