Parliament, Wednesday, 1 April 2026 – The Joint Committee on Ethics and Members’ Interests has resolved that the complaints lodged against three Cabinet Ministers and two Members of Parliament are unfounded or that the complaints lodged against them are not competent to be determined by the committee for lack of jurisdiction.
The Cabinet Ministers are Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Velenkosini Hlabisa, Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr Gayton McKenzie and Minister of Agriculture, Mr John Steenhuisen.
The Members of Parliament are Ms Carol Phiri, the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure and Mr Oscar Matafa, a Member of the National Assembly.
The committee remains steadfast in its quest to ensure accountability of all Members of Parliament, as demanded by the code. Its findings on this matter will be published in the Announcements, Tablings and Committee Reports (ATC).
