Parliament, Thursday, 20 November 2025 – The Eastern Cape delegation to the NCOP will today visit the victims of the recent floods in Mthatha.

The leader of the delegation, Honourable Nkosi Mwelo Nonkonyane said the delegation wants to understand and witness first-hand how victims of the floods were accommodated. “A lot of our people died and many have not been able to bury their loved ones because their bodies were never recovered.”

Hon Nkosi Nonkonyane added: “The visit will help the delegation understand what had been done via the emergency disaster funds and if they were availed at all.” The delegation is in the OR Tambo District Municipality to assess infrastructure projects in various municipalities in the district as part of the 2025 Provincial Week programme of the NCOP.
