Parliament, Wednesday, 3 June 2026 – The Constitutional Review Committee has called for written public submissions on the annual review of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, in accordance with section 45(1)(c) of the Constitution.
The National Assembly, in concurrence with the National Council of Provinces, has mandated the Constitutional Review Committee to seek public submissions in accordance with section 45(1)(c) of the Constitution and the Joint Rules of Parliament, to invite written submissions from the public on the review of the Constitution.
Committee Chairpersons Adv Glynnis Breytenbach and Mr Mtikeni Patrick Sibande said this is part of the committee’s annual engagement with the public to ascertain if they would want to propose amendments to the Constitutions.
In addition to the written submissions, submitters should also indicate if they are interested in making oral presentations to the committee. Submissions should reach the committee no later than 6 July 2026.
