Parliament, Friday, 27 October 2023 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture, Ms Beauty Dlulane, has wished the Springboks well in the final game against the All Blacks tomorrow.

Ms Dlulane said all 60 million South Africans are behind the Springboks and the successes they have been realising in France from day one. She said: “The Springboks have given themselves a realistic opportunity to win the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Given the recent success of the team, this was hardly surprising, and as the committee we appreciate the unifying effect such success has had in the country.”

“This is further proof that success not only unites but a lot more has been achieved. Recognition in the rugby world and beyond; what the Springboks have done was also to etch South Africa’s name in the annals of history. All that is left is to win the title for the record 4th time,” emphasised Ms Dlulane.

The Springboks had a crucifying passage that involved Scotland, Ireland, and the massive fight of having to eliminate the hosts France (Quarterfinals), as well as the spirited England team in the semi-finals.

Ms Dlulane noted with appreciation the efforts made by many municipal councils across the length and breadth of South Africa, in availing fan parks and viewing areas for fans. She added: “We trust that safety of our people would be guaranteed while they enjoyed and witness the Springboks defend the title especially that the game plays late in the evening. All South Africans are called on to enjoy themselves tomorrow and do whatever little they could to support Boks.”

South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa, and the Minister of Sport, Zizi Kodwa, will lead a strong contingent of South African fans, and join the team in Paris ahead of the final, Saturday night.

“Goodluck Springboks. Halala Mabhokobhoko halala,” said Ms Dlulane.
