Parliament, Monday, 15 August 2022 – The Portfolio Committee on Social Development has learnt with sadness about the passing of its member, Ms Anastasia Motaung, who passed away yesterday.

Ms Motaung joined the committee in 2019 after the 2019 general elections. She was a servant of the people who served the committee with outstanding diligence and deep conviction. She was driven by her commitment to the committee and always wished to see it meeting its mandate. She will be remembered for her calm spirit and dedication to her work even during the most trying times of her life. She is leaving a shining indelible mark behind which members of the committee will cherish forever.

The committee extends its heartfelt condolences to the Motaung family. The Chairperson of the committee, Ms Nonkosi Mvana said: “We wish her family strength during this very difficult journey of mourning. The wound of her loss is deep and we wish the family and Ms Motaung’s friends comfort during this difficult time. We will keep them in our thoughts and prayers. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”
