Parliament, Thursday, 14 October 2021 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Sports, Arts and Culture, Ms Beauty Dlulane, has noted with sadness the passing of the distinguished businessman and sport developer in the Eastern Cape, Mr Mthetheleli Advocate Ngumbela today.

Ms Dlulane said the contribution and investments Mr Ngumbela made in sports particularly in rugby and cricket in the Border region were unparalleled. She said the region has lost one of its selfless sons and it will take something special to fill the gap he leaves especially regarding the contributions he made in sport.

“Mr Ngumbela understood acutely the value of sport in development and played a remarkable role in the area of sport, a role which will be left as his shining legacy. May his sole rest in eternal peace,” said Ms Dlulane.

According to media reports, Mr Ngumbela was allegedly involved in a car accident on Wednesday and his passing was confirmed today. The committee sends its deepest heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives and Mr Ngumbela’s colleagues in the business and sports fraternities.
