Parliament, Friday, 3 July 2026 – The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training, Mr Tebogo Letsie, has noted the High Court judgment setting aside the University of Fort Hare’s (UFH) decision to deregister the Eastern Cape Premier Mr Oscar Mabuyane from his master’s in administration qualification.
“We welcome the court’s decision and congratulate Mr Mabuyane on this victory. We hope he can now resume his academic journey without further hindrance after it was unnecessarily disrupted,” said Mr Letsie.
Mr Letsie said the matter had been widely publicised and expressed the hope that UFH and Mr Mabuyane will abide by the court decision and find a way to move forward amicably.
