Parliament, Wednesday 01 March 2023 – Parliament confirms that the Deputy President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr. David Mabuza, has tendered his resignation as a Member of Parliament to the Speaker of the National Assembly. The resignation of Mr. Mabuza, who during his tenure also served as the Leader of Government Business, was received on 28 February 2023, and is effective immediately.
In his resignation letter to the Speaker, the Deputy President thanked the Presiding Officers of Parliament and the leadership of various political parties in Parliament for the cooperation in ensuring that Members of the Executive fulfil their constitutional obligations in terms of the rules of Parliament.
The Speaker wishes Mr. Mabuza well in his future endeavours and thanked him for his service to the country during his term both as a Member of Parliament and Member of the Executive.
