Parliament, Satuday, 25 June 2022 – The Presiding Officers of Parliament, led by the Speaker of the National Assembly (NA), Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Mr Amos Masondo have received correspondence from the President regarding the final part of the Report of the Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of State Capture, Corruption and Fraud in the Public Sector including Organs of State, also known as the Zondo Commission.

In the letter addressed to the Presiding Officers, President Cyril Ramaphosa confirmed that the Chairperson of the Commission, Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, presented to him Parts 5 and 6 of the final Report on Wednesday 22 June 2022.

The President further committed that he will, within the four months stipulated in line with the directive of the High Court, formally present to Parliament the full report of the Commission together with an indication of his intentions on the implementation of the Commission’s recommendations.

The President appreciated that Parliament will need to engage in its own processes on the recommendations that affect it directly, especially from Volumes 1 and 2 of Part 5 as well as Volume 2 of Part 6.

While waiting for the President to submit his final report and implementation plan within four months, Parliament will, in the interim, seek legal opinion on the appropriate processing of these parts of the report received.

The Presiding Officers have already referred several serving MPs mentioned in the parts of the Report previously submitted by the President to the parliamentary Ethics Committee, as recommended.
