Parliament, Saturday, 29 November 2025 – Parliament is inviting members of the media to a briefing to outline Parliament’s approach to its hosting of the 58th Plenary Assembly of the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF), its focus and programme of the five-day deliberations.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms Thoko Didiza, will lead the media briefing, joined by the President of the SADC PF, who is also the Speaker of the Parliament of Madagascar, Mr Siteny Thierry Randrianasoloniaiko.
The 58th Plenary Assembly, a biannual gathering of Speakers and MPs from 15 SADC Member Parliaments, will be held under the theme: “The Impact of Climate Change on Women and Youth in the SADC Region and the Role of Parliaments in Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation.”
The 58th Plenary Assembly’s opening ceremony tomorrow, Sunday, will kick off with a keynote address by the Deputy President of the Republic, Mr Paul Mashatile.

The SADC PF is a legislative organ of SADC and has, since 1996, been central in strengthening parliamentary democracy, regional integration, and harmonisation of legislation that supports development across Southern Africa. The 58th Plenary Assembly will bring together parliamentarians from all SADC member states, along with representatives from continental and regional organisations, development partners, academia, civil society, and youth groups.
