Parliament, Monday, 26 January 2026 – The Portfolio Committee on Tourism will tomorrow embark on a week-long oversight in the Western Cape Province, visiting tourist destinations to ascertain the state of tourism in the province.

On Tuesday, the portfolio committee will visit the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse Precinct Development and, thereafter, De Hoop Nature Reserve. The committee will engage with the relevant stakeholders, such as the Department of Tourism, South African Tourism, the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, SANParks and Cape Nature, among others.

On Wednesday, the committee will visit Wolwekloof Resort, where the committee will inspect the infrastructure maintenance project, looking at the upgrades being undertaken.

The committee oversight continues on Thursday with a visit to the Khayelitsha Look-Out Hill Infrastructure Maintenance Project to view the repairs to the roof and the installation of new fencing and air-conditioning. This will be followed by a stakeholder briefing in Khayelitsha.
