Parliament, Tuesday, 25 April 2023 – The standing committees on Appropriations will tomorrow hold public hearings on the 2023 Eskom Debt Bill. The Bill was tabled together with the 2023/24 national budget by the Minister of Finance on 22 February 2023 when he delivered the 2023 Budget Speech. The Money Bills Amendment Procedure and Related Matters Amendment Act, Act No 13 of 2018 requires Parliament to conduct public hearings and to report on all Bills.
The 2023 Eskom Debt Relief Bill seeks to provide for a direct charge against the Nationally Raised Revenue Fund for debt relief to Eskom and to provide for matters incidental thereto.
