Parliament, Tuesday, 10 March 2026 – The Select Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Mineral Resources will conduct an oversight visit to Madibeng from 11 to 12 March 2026.
The oversight will focus on following up on commitments made regarding the relocation of a section of the Madibeng community. This follows concerns raised about the prolonged delays in finalising the relocation process.
Committee Chairperson Mr Mpho Modise said the committee was approached to intervene due to the considerable delays, which have hampered the mining operations in the area. Mining activities cannot commence until the relocation is concluded, thereby negatively affecting employment opportunities and economic development in the region.
During the oversight visit, the committee will engage with all relevant stakeholders, including government departments, mining companies and community representatives, with the aim of finding lasting and mutually beneficial solutions for all parties involved.
Details of the oversight visit:
Date: 11–12 March 2026 (Wednesday and Thursday)
Time: 10:00 am
Venue: Madibeng
