Parliament, Tuesday, 11 October 2022 – The Select Committee on Trade and Industry, Economic Development, Small Business Development, Tourism, Employment and Labour will today receive a detailed briefing on interventions the Department of Tourism intends putting in place in order to guarantee tourist safety this summer.

The briefing comes a week after German tourists were nearly robbed at gun point in Kruger National Park, South Africa’s prime tourist destination. One tourist was unfortunately killed during the incident and three suspects are in custody.

The committee will also receive a progress report on the implementation of the Tourism Sector Recovery Plan.
