Parliament, Monday, 3 August 2026 – The Select Committee on Public Infrastructure and Minister in the Presidency will tomorrow be briefed by the Minister of Transport and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) on the status of investigations into alleged criminal infiltration and irregularities in respect of the procurement of security services and subcontracting on the Cape Town central line.
Details of the Meeting:
Date: Tuesday, 4 August 2026
Time: 10:00am
Venue: Virtual Platform
Meanwhile, the Select Committee on Agriculture, Land Reform and Mineral Resources will be briefed by the Department of Electricity and Energy on two matters relating to the committee’s upcoming oversight visit. The matters include the impact of non-payment of electricity tariffs to Eskom by local municipalities, which has led to the breakdown of service delivery agreements and the need for the implementation of distribution agency agreements, with specific reference to the Inxuba Yethemba Local Municipality.
The committee will also consider whether the 2026 prepayment agreement reached with the local municipality, which restricts the amount of electricity it is able to purchase, amounts to punitive load reduction and significantly affects residents and businesses that are not in arrears with their municipal payments.
Details of the meeting are as follows:
Date: Tuesday, 4 August 2026
Time: 10:00am
Venue: Virtual Platform
