Parliament, Wednesday, 6 October 2021 – The Select Committee on Finance invites stakeholders and interested parties to submit written comments on the Fiscal Sector Laws Amendment Bill [B 15B-2020].

The Bill was first processed by the Standing Committee on Finance and later adopted by the National Assembly in September 2021. It aims to, amongst other things, provide for the establishment of a framework for the resolution of designated institutions to ensure that the impact or potential impact of their failure on financial stability is managed appropriately, and to designate the Reserve Bank as the resolution authority.

Furthermore, it aims to establish a deposit insurance scheme, including a Corporation for Deposit Insurance and a Deposit Insurance Fund. The Bill is available on Parliament website through this link: https://tinyurl.com/ekt4j6sx

Written comments should be submitted to the committee by no later than mid-day on Monday, 18 October 2021. Stakeholders and interested parties are advised to specifically make a request should they wish to make oral presentation during the virtual public hearing on Tuesday, 16 November 2021.

The written comments as well as requests to make oral presentations should be addressed to the Committee Secretary, Mr Nkululeko Mangweni, via email: nmangweni@parliament.gov.za
