Parliament, Wednesday, 8 November 2023 – The Select Committee on Education and Technology, Sports, Arts and Culture will today receive a briefing on the Basic Education Laws Amendment (BELA) Bill from the Department of Basic Education.
The BELA Bill was referred by the National Assembly last month to the National Council of Provinces for further processing. The Bill is intended to help guide with, among others, language preference for schools, conduct of educators, abolishment of corporal punishment in schools, merging of schools and sale of alcohol in schools.
