Parliament, Monday, 2 February 2026 – The Portfolio Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure will conduct an oversight visit to Mpumalanga Province from 3 to 6 February 2026 to assess the implementation, condition and impact of major infrastructure development projects.
The committee will begin the oversight with a visit to the dilapidated Mapulaneng Hospital and assess the progress with the construction of a new regional hospital. Thereafter, it will visit the Acornhoek Police Station.
The committee will focus on projects implemented through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and other strategic infrastructure initiatives intended to stimulate local economies and create employment opportunities.
Ms Carol Phiri, the Chairperson of the committee, said: “This visit will allow the committee to move beyond reports and see, first-hand, whether infrastructure projects are meeting their objectives. We are assessing value for money, proper maintenance of state assets and whether these projects are genuinely improving the lives of communities.”
