Parliament, Sunday, 21 August 2022 – The Portfolio Committee on Basic Education will from tomorrow conduct oversight visits to schools in Mpumalanga Province to assess the state of schooling in the province.
The committee will visit schools in the Ehlanzeni, Nkangala and Gert Sibande districts and it will meet with the National Department of Basic Education, Mpumalanga Provincial Department of Education (including the Office of the MEC, HOD, officials of the national and provincial departments of education), Mpumalanga Legislature’s Portfolio Committee, associations of school governing bodies, organized labour and the South African Principals Association.
Details of the oversight visits are as follows:
Date: Monday 22 August – The committee is going to visit the following schools in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality:(Ehlanzeni District – Bohlabela)
08:30 – 10:00 Tsakane Special School in Acornhoek
10:30 – 12:00 Lekete Technical High School in Athurseat
12:30 – 14:00 Mapulaneng Education Development Centre in Bushbuckridge
14:30 – 16:00 Alfred Mashine Commercial School
16:30 – 18:00 Ngwaritšane Secondary School in Maveljan
Date: Tuesday 23 August
The committee will visit schools in the Nkomazi Local Municipality (Ehlanzeni), scheduled times are indocated below:
09:30 – 11:00 Sidlamafa Secondary School
11:30 – 13:00 DD Mabuza Technical High School
13:30 – 15:00 Silindokuhle Special School
16:30 – 18:30 - The committee will have a meeting with the National Department of Basic Education, Mpumalanga Provincial Department of Education (including the Office of the MEC, HOD, Senior and District Officials), Portfolio Committee on Education (Provincial Legislature), SGB Associations, Organised Labour, SA Principals Association)

14:30 – 16:00 Khutsala Primary School (Primary School)
