Parliament, Thursday, 14 November 2024 – Cliff Dekker Hofmeyer, a national law firm with offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town, will tomorrow, 15 November 2024, brief the Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies on the report on allegations of irregularities at the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) on the awarding of a R1,2 billion tender.

SITA commissioned the report in July 2023 at the request of the former Minister, Mr Mondli Gungubele, who is now the Deputy Minister. Mr Gungubele’s request was informed by a letter from the committee in the sixth Parliament, dated 30 June 2023. In writing to the Minister, the committee was responding to media reports and a complaint from a service provider, who made numerous allegations of irregularities relating to the bid process.

The tender in question was for the maintenance and expansion of local area network (LAN) services in Western Cape schools, wherein the provincial Department of Education wanted to enhance LAN infrastructure to sustain and advance existing network facilities.
