Parliament, Monday, 26 October 2020 – The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) delegation to the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will tomorrow kick off a week-long oversight visit in the province as part of the NCOP’s 2020 Provincial Programme. 

The delegation will receive briefings from the district municipalities that include uMzinyathi, uMgungundlovu, Ugu, Harry Gwala, iLembe, King Cetywayo, eThekwini, uMkhanyakude, Zululand and eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality on, among other things, municipal audit outcomes, financial management, financial controls, revenue collection, municipal debt, fruitless expenditure, the usage of consultants and the status of war rooms in their wards.

The main focus of the 2020 Provincial Week Programme, which is carried out under the theme: “Ensuring capable and financially sound municipalities”, is on municipalities that received poor audit reports in the 2018/19 financial year.
