Parliament, Thursday, 5 December 2024 – The Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development will tomorrow conduct an oversight visit to the South African Human Rights Commissions’ (SAHRC’s) Head Office in Gauteng.
The committee received numerous complaints about an alleged toxic environment at the SAHRC. The committee held a meeting with the SAHRC commissioners where they responded to these and other allegations. The committee resolved to hold a meeting with the Commission’s staff to afford them an opportunity to share their perspective on all the allegations.
In its meeting held on 26 November 2024, the committee resolved to undertake an oversight visit to the commission where it will interact with commissioners and staff to gain a better understanding of the situation.
