Parliament, Tuesday, 3 December 2024 – The Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development will tomorrow conduct an oversight to the South African Human Rights Commissions’ office in Cape Town. The Committee received numerous complaints around an alleged toxic environment at the SAHRC. The committee held a meeting where the Commissioners responded to the allegations. The committee then resolved to hold a meeting with the Commission’s staff to gain a better understanding of the complaints. In its meeting held on 26 November 2024, the committee resolved to undertake an oversight visit to the Commission. The Committee will interact with commissioners and staff to gain a better understanding of the situation.
