Parliament, Tuesday,13 October 2026 – The Chairperson of the Impeachment Committee for Section 89 Enquiry, Mr Makashule Gana will this morning be at the Western Cape High Court, where the applications brought by the Economic Freedom Fighters and the African Legal Professionals Association will be heard.
The applicants are seeking to have set aside the committee’s decision to rescind its recommendation of Advocate Thandazani Madonsela SC as chief evidence leader.
The Chairperson has, on behalf of the committee, opposed both applications. “We will make submissions before the Western Cape High Court to demonstrate that the committee acted within the Rules of the National Assembly when it rescinded its earlier decision recommending Advocate Madonsela,” said Mr Gana. “We will therefore be before court to defend the committee’s decision and to ensure that the work of the committee can proceed.”
